This morning, while swamp-crawling, I had a sedge ram itself up my nose hard enough to bleed me.
Since so far everyone I've mentioned this to has asked, "sedge" is a group of reeds. The one I'm talking about is similar to a tule (my bad for misspelling it several entries ago, and "cattail" for everyone not from California). I've seen it anywhere from 4 to 8 feet tall, dark green, smooth round stalk up to 3/4 inch across, small brown bulbs near the end. No other parts/leaves that I've noticed, just a stalk sticking up out of the mud.
